About our New Year's greeting card.
Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) is a major concern at Wildgen and our policy is in line with our principles of conducting our business with transparency and responsibility. Environment and Art are amongst our main CSR themes. We encourage development and commitment of our collaborators and focus on the future and on our sustainable growth.
We therefore decided to reflect on our achievements to safeguard biodiversity and focus on the urgency of this challenge for the future. The United Nations declared 2010 to be the International Year of Biodiversity and we decided to support this celebration of life on earth and to promote this special year by asking a promising young international artist to illustrate our New Year's greeting card and a 2010 calendar, Eleonora Pasti. She comments: “When the idea of designing a calendar for 2010 was proposed to me by Wildgen, I immediately accepted the challenge. My aim is to confront a current and dramatic theme such as the extinction of many animal species, exploiting the entrancing force of an aesthetic language. This inspired thirteen delicate yet colourful, slightly naif, water-colours of animals, on the surface joyful and carefree in their precarious and in somewhat awkward acrobatic positions.
I envisaged these animals in danger of extinction as if they were acrobats, like tight-rope artists balancing hazardously on the risky tight-rope of life. Hanging upside down, as I often feel myself, women-mother-artist, always searching for that elusive equilibrium which requires living live suspended between desire and the emotion of continually discovering a new meaning to everything.” |
