Adoption of UCITS IV Directive

On 22 June 2009 the European Council has voted the adoption of the UCITS IV Directive on undertakings for collective investments in transferable securities. Luxembourg welcomed the adoption of the Directive given that the new rules laid down in the Directive on the coordination of laws, regulations and administrative provisions will bring substantial benefits for investors (in the form of clear, relevant and easily comprehensible information) and for the investment fund industry (in the form of light regimes for mergers and cross-border marketing). Nevertheless it underlines the need to ensure that the Management Company Passport as defined in the Directive does not undermine the quality of the UCITS product, particularly the high level of protection offered to retail investors.

Wildgen recently elected new Equity Partners and Directors

Leading Luxembourg law firm “Wildgen, Partners in Law” elected Eric Sublon and Michel Bulach as equity partners. Wildgen has now six equity partners in total. Three Senior Associates were also promoted Directors.

"These elections will significantly strengthen our organization. The enlarged group of young partners will contribute to the development of the firm already renowned for the high calibre of its work”, said Pierre Metzler, equity partner at Wildgen. “Eric and Michel have both made an outstanding contribution to developing our business and enhancing the reputation of the firm. Part of their role will be to promote the fact that we offer specialist advice in an even more efficient, proactive and dynamic way.”

With a background advising a large range of domestic and international clients, Eric Sublon has extensive corporate law experience from private equity to mergers and acquisitions of multi-million Euro companies. Michel Bulach joined the firm in 2000 and has wide-ranging experience in dealing with all aspects of Banking and Insurance Law.

Three Senior Associates have been promoted to Directors: Carole Lacroix, Barbara Imbs and Daniel Boone all of them specialised in Corporate Law. Barbara and Carole are also part of the Islamic Finance Team while Daniel mainly works with international M&A and private equity matters.

These promotions will strengthen Wildgen’s teams in two of its most important areas – namely corporate and banking law.
